Why It's Going to Be Great
Santiago: A collage of Spanish Colonial charm, European elegance, and modern city life, Santiago is home to five million welcoming Chileans. The city center houses lovely pedestrian malls with cobblestone walkways, shopping galleries, fountains, cafes, movie theaters, and ice cream shops. There is an intense arts scene and an equally intense nightlife scene.
Atacama: San Pedro de Atacama is a picturesque oasis village in the high plains of northern Chile, in the middle of one of the world's singular destinations -- the Altiplano of the Atacama Desert. The area is a vast natural playground that will surprise, awe, and inspire you with its desert villages, astonishing flora and fauna, giant sand dunes, grassy canyons, mysterious hills and valleys, and more. The area's human history began 10,000 years ago and its modern residents, traditions, and culture descend from the Incas, Aymaras, and Atacameñans.
Mendoza: Mendoza is located 644 miles west of Buenos Aires, close to the Chilean border and the Andes mountain range. This city is made up of two parts, the old and the new. Only one colonial church, a reminder of the old spectacular architecture, survived intact after a major earthquake in 1861. The "Barrio de las Ruinas" holds the remnants of what Mendoza used to look like. Mendoza is the exit and entry point for travel to the highest mountain peak in South America, Aconcagua.
Buenos Aires: One of the largest cities in the world, Buenos Aires is the capital of the land of the passionate tango and championship soccer, the iconic gaucho, and mouth-watering asados. To capture the spirit of this elegant city, walk along its lovely downtown streets to browse the chic shop windows, catch a horse race at the fabulous hippodrome, dine on world-class steak and wine, people-watch at a sidewalk cafe, and have a picnic at one of its simply beautiful parks. |
